Northern Territory General Practice Education (NTGPE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Nigel Gray to the Director of Medical Training role at the NT’s sole GP training organisation.

Dr Gray has previously held the Director of Training role at NTGPE, as well as a Senior Medical Educator role. He was part of the member accreditation committee which devised the current NTGPE accreditation model and was involved in accrediting and reaccrediting training posts against this model.

Dr Gray, who will commence with NTGPE on 1 April 2022, also has extensive national and international experience having worked in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the UK.

“In the five years since I last had the opportunity to contribute to GP training in the NT, I have been fortunate enough to travel widely, and learn and experience a great deal from various cultures and health systems,” he said.

“It is great to be back, and I feel very grateful and privileged to be able to re-engage with an environment where I have no doubt the right things still matter.”

Dr Gray’s appointment follows the recent appointment of Dr Justin Coleman as NTGPE Director of Medical Education.

NTGPE Chief Executive Officer, Dr Richard Zanner said: “The work we do now through to the transition to College-led GP training next year will have a lasting impact for many years to come, and we want to continue to deliver the best GP training that we can.

“The appointments of Nigel and Justin to lead our medical education and training programs will help us achieve our goals.”
