Supervision and Support
Prevocational doctors are well supported by a Medical Educator assigned to the Program as well as the Program Coordinator, on call 24 hours.
Before undertaking a placement, program participants are given three days of orientation, covering cultural, medical and general practice relevant topics in the NT context. Being the centre of excellence for general practice education and training in Aboriginal health, NTGPE’s program participants can be assured they will be well prepared for their placements.
During the placement, weekly teleconferences are held, designed to provide educational support, mentoring and networking.
After placement, a half day debrief is held to consolidate the learning and experience.
All clinics and practices are accredited with either the Royal Australian College of GP’s (RACGP) or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
