Special Announcement for 2013 Applicants:
New AGPT-NTGPE Co-badging Pilot: better preparation for an NT placement
The NT has always been an exciting, different place to do general practice training. However, due to the challenging nature of medicine in the Territory, some GPT1s may require greater support in a more controlled environment.
To provide this support, the AGPT-NTGPE Co-Badging Pilot has been developed that allows GP Registrars to undertake the first 18 months of their GP training (12 months hospital and 6 months GPT1 term) with Central and Southern Queensland Training Consortium (CSQTC) before moving to the Northern Territory to complete the remainder of their training (GPT 2 and 3 and Extended Skills) with NTGPE.
This means registrars gain further experience and skills that better prepares them for general practice training in the NT. Once here, many registrars find that the tremendous support and the challenging medicine on offer usually makes for one of the most interesting and rewarding experiences of their professional lives.
Limited places will be offered for this Co-Badging Pilot and applicants are encouraged to apply early to avoid disappointment. Applicants will be required to nominate this option when completing the on-line application process and selecting NTGPE as the preferred regional training provider (RTP).
For further details on the Co-Badging Pilot, please contact Christine Heatherington-Tait, GPR Program Coordinator, NTGPE on 08 8946 6748 or E: christine.heatherington-tait@ntgpe.org
