NOW OPEN! Applications for 2013 NTGPE Scholarships

NTGPE is now welcoming applications for the Debbie Stach Registrar Scholarship for Leadership, Alan Walker Paediatric Scholarship, Cultural Immersion Award and the NTGPE Indigenous Health Training Scholarship.

These annual scholarships are to recognise the commitment of NTGPE’s Registrars to training and working in the NT and additionally to provide them with assistance to further their studies.

The Cultural Immersion Award is also open to PGPPP participants.

Darwin to be host to fifth biennial LIME Connection V Conference in August 2013

The fifth biennial LIME Connection V ‘Re-imaging Indigenous Health Education: Harnessing energy, implementing evidence, creating change’ from the Leaders in Indigenous Medical Education (LIME) Network will be held in Darwin, Australia from 26-28 August 2013.

The Connection is an opportunity to discuss and critique current practices and explore emerging tools and techniques to drive improvement in outcomes for Indigenous health, and aims to encourage information sharing, professional development, capacity-building and networking amongst peers.

LIME Connection seeks to support collaboration between medical schools and to build linkages with community, colleges and those from other health disciplines.

The target audience for the LIME Connection V includes Indigenous and non-Indigenous medical educators, Indigenous health specialists, medical specialists, policy makers, students and community members.

beyondblue’s National Mental Health Survey of Doctors and Medical Students to be released mid-February

In mid-February, around half of Australia’s medical Doctors and medical students will receive a questionnaire as part of beyondblue’s National Mental Health Survey of Doctors and Medical Students. The world-first survey is completely anonymous and will offer an unprecedented insight into the well-being of the nation’s aspiring and working Doctors and identify ways to improve it. beyondblue CEO Kate Carnell said that every Doctor and medical student who completed the questionnaire would offer invaluable insights into how we can support their critical work. New NTGPE Medical Educator, Supervisor Liaison Officer and ECT Visitor Positions offered to meet expanding GP training demands

NTGPE is seeking to expand their Medical Education Team to meet the growth in their GP training programs and record numbers of program participant numbers in 2013. With a renewed focus on training in and for remote and Indigenous health we are looking to further strengthen and expand our team and grow a medical education team for the future.

Positions available:

Darwin Based Medical Educators (0.4 - 0.6 FTE)

Supervisor Liaison Officer (0.1 - 0.2 FTE)

External Clinical Teaching Visitors (varying)
