NTGPE’s GPR Conference provides for education and social networking
NTGPE’s June 2011 GPR Conference promises an informative and educational program with opportunities to relax in the evenings and catch up with the network of NT registrars, medical practitioners, specialists and NTGPE staff.
Included in the program are topical areas for the Northern Territory and presented by specialists in their field. Dr Greg Parry from Kidney Health Australia will deliver two modules on Chronic Kidney Disease in general practice and Indigenous health, Dr Howard Flavell on Rehabilitation Medicine for the General Practitioner, Dr Frank Meumann on General Practice Consultation Skills and NTGPE’s own cultural educators delivering two modules on Indigenous Health Training.
Director of Medical and Cultural Education, Dr Hung The Nguyen said the NT has a high percentage of patients with chronic conditions such as Chronic Kidney Disease and it is especially significant for our Indigenous communities.
“We have high numbers and treatment resources for general practice is wanting – such as specialist resources, community service resources and allied health involvement.”
The three day conference is being held 1-3 June 2011 at the Travelodge Mirambeena Resort with the conference dinner taking place on Wednesday 1 June 2011. An additional sunset drinks and nibblies is being held free of charge for all registrars and their families at the Darwin Ski Club on Thursday 2 June 2011, starting at 6pm.
